The Ride Resumes!

Okay so it's been a while. I've also realized that what I intended my blog to be about has been anything but. Maybe that's not completely true because the "ride" is ultimately my life and the ride really changed when my Dad died. I looked through my entries over the last year and it seems the only time I make an entry is when I'm missing him. When the empty hole in my life can only be appeased by the tapping of the keys on the keyboard in hopes that I can summon enough strength to move to the next day. Well, today is one of those days. Today he would have been 76. Happy Birthday to you, Dad. I miss you!

But the Crazy Ride has actually been moving along at quite a clip and I'm sorry to admit I haven't done such a good job of documenting it. (That photo was taken as we packed the last of our things into a 26' truck the day after Christmas.) Our dream to move to Colorado has not only materialized but slapped us completely silly. We have moved to Golden, Colorado and it happened in less than six weeks. So here I sit with my computer on a kid-size table practically in the closet of a tiny room (thanks to my husband for getting me up and running because I can only type so much on my phone). We are renting a small house until our house in Kentucky sells and we can find one that won't break us here. We are enjoying the sunny Colorado days and I've even made it to the mountains once already. So let's fire up this Crazy Ride again and see where it takes us. The house shopping ride should be quite entertaining for anyone who knows how picky my husband is or the sleep issues have more than reared their ugly heads or perhaps we can talk about my attempts to live a greener life. Hell, even opening a bank account seems to be a comedic pain! Regardless, I'll try to get back here a little more often in the coming days.

But today I must say this a few times: I miss my Dad! I miss my Dad! I miss my Dad! I think he would be proud of us but would not have wanted me to leave. He would commend us on not biting off more than we could chew but criticize something else about the way we moved. He wouldn't be my Dad if he didn't do that. No matter what negative remark he would have made, I would still welcome the opportunity to hear it for myself. I would love to be able to call him right now and wish him a happy birthday. I'll have to send it to him with the tapping of my keys.
